The DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program is one of the world's most respected artist-in-residence programmes, inviting approximately 20 internationally established artists each year to spend usually one year living and working in Berlin.

The programme is open to outstanding artists from abroad working in fine arts, film, literature, and music. Age is not a factor — what matters is an exceptional, internationally recognised body of work and the desire to engage creatively with Berlin and its artistic community.

Scholarship holders receive a monthly stipend to support an appropriate standard of living, along with a furnished residence. Travel and baggage costs are covered for the artist and any accompanying partners and children staying for the full duration. Health and accident insurance and German language lessons are also included.

The programme is designed to give artists genuine freedom — space to develop their practice, pursue new work, and connect with fellow artists. It sees itself as a platform for artistic and cultural exchange across Europe and beyond, celebrating the diversity of creative perspectives and the freedom of artistic expression.

Applications are accepted from around the world. For application forms and detailed information on the application procedure, visit the Berliner Künstlerprogramm website at www.berliner-kuenstlerprogramm.de.
