The George & Aristea Mamidakis Foundation invites artists from around the world to submit proposals for the Art Prize 2027 — an opportunity to create a large-scale, site-specific sculptural installation for permanent outdoor display at Minos Palace in Agios Nikolaos, Crete.

Established in 2019, the Art Prize has supported contemporary artists working at the intersection of art, environment, and public space. The 2027 edition is open to visual artists working in sculpture, installation, sound installation, mixed media, constructions using natural materials, land art, environmental art, ecological art, and practices that interweave art and nature in open-air environments.

Artists are invited to select one of three proposed outdoor sites for their proposal. Works will be evaluated on conceptual clarity, site-specificity, creative vision, integration with surroundings, technical feasibility, public safety, and sustainability.

The winning artist receives:
- €15,000 prize (paid in two instalments: 30% on acceptance, 70% on delivery)
- Full coverage of construction, transportation, and installation costs
- A residency component including one visit to Crete (up to 10 days), with accommodation and meals at Minos Palace covered
- Return travel to Crete
- Close collaboration with the Foundation's Artistic Director and team
- Press coverage, catalogue publication, and ongoing network support

The completed work will be unveiled to the public in June 2027 and enter the G & A Mamidakis Foundation's permanent art collection. Artistic duos are welcome to apply — prize money and construction budget are shared between both artists.

Applications must be submitted in Greek or English via the Foundation's website by 30 December 2026. Shortlisted finalists will be notified by 15 February 2027.
