Te Tuhi Studios offers working spaces for visual artists in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland who share Te Tuhi's commitment to critically engaged contemporary art practice. As one of Aotearoa's leading contemporary art organisations, Te Tuhi is known for supporting work that is locally grounded, regionally responsive, and internationally ambitious — with a strong awareness of social, political, and environmental issues.

Studios range from $55/week for an 11m² spot in a shared space, to $120/week for a 24m² private studio. All spaces include a sink with cold water, access to a shared kitchenette, and electricity (standard 240V 10A wall sockets). Accessible studios are available. Note: internet access is not provided.

Tenancies are offered on fixed-term licences — typically one year, though shorter or longer arrangements can be negotiated. Artists are expected to make regular, ongoing use of their studio and to engage constructively with Te Tuhi's artistic and education programmes, including open studios and public events.

To apply, send a single PDF (max 6MB) to exhibitions@tetuhi.art including:
- Your contact details
- A practice statement (up to 600 words) covering your background, current interests, media, and materials
- Details on how you'll use the studio, any noise/dust/fume considerations, and any accessibility requirements
- A description of your current situation (full-time, part-time, recent graduate, etc.)
- How you anticipate contributing to the studio community and broader arts sector
- A CV (maximum two pages)
- Up to 10 images of your work (JPG, PNG, or PDF), with captions and links to any video or audio works online

If you'd prefer not to apply in writing, Te Tuhi welcomes audio or audiovisual submissions (up to five minutes) that address the same criteria.

Note that there are restrictions on certain materials and processes in shared spaces — including naked flames, toxic or chemical processes, spray paint, and dust-generating activities — to protect both the heritage building and fellow studio residents.
