Portals: New Perspectives

At PhotoPlace Gallery, we are passionate about photography and the artists who create it. Each month, we curate juried exhibitions that invite photographers from around the world to share their work based on unique themes. A portal suggests passage. It invites us to look through, step beyond, or imagine what lies on the other side. For Portals: New Perspectives, we invite photographs that explore openings, thresholds, and points of transition. Windows, doorways, mirrors, gates, archways, reflections, and frames within frames may serve as literal portals, while shifts in light, shadow, or perspective can transform familiar spaces into something unexpected. We also welcome more interpretive approaches. A portal might represent change, movement, memory, or emotional transition. Whether urban or rural, interior or exterior, documentary or conceptual, show us how photography opens new ways of seeing. Exhibition & Awards: We are honored to have Ann Jastrab as juror. She will select up to 35 images for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and another 40 images for our Online Gallery. Juror's Award: $300 USD (approx. $510 NZD) Director's Award: $200 USD (approx. $340 NZD) Honorable Mentions (3): $50 USD (approx. $85 NZD) All 75 images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalog, remain permanently on our website, and be promoted on social media. Eligibility & Guidelines: Open to photographers worldwide, aged 18 and up. All genres, capture methods, editing processes, and printing styles are welcome. Entry Fee: $39 USD (approx. $66 NZD) for up to 5 images, and $6 USD (approx. $10 NZD) for each additional image. File Requirements: JPG or JPEG only; up to 5MB closed file size; ~2100 pixels on the longest side.
