Artist Feature 009: Isabella Rose Young. Tāmaki Makaurau / Te Tai Tokerau analogue photographer and moving-image artist @isabellaroseyoung works intentionally slowly across 35mm, Super 8, darkroom printing, painting and writing. Her daughter appears throughout the work, but we never see her face. We discussed privacy, disappearing materials, and what the arts lose when visibility matters more than making.

Interview and film photography feature with Lomography Magazine

The lighting is terrible in my house but I've made some good progress on commission for client Lane W. There's still a but to be done but for my first chicken / rooster I'm enjoying the process of finding light and building structure through the feathers.

This week I presented to Hamilton City Council on four overlooked surfaces creating new opportunities for artists: utility boxes, bus shelters, construction hoardings and vacant shopfronts.

Artist Feature 004: Fletcher McClelland. Ōtautahi-based photographer Fletcher McClelland traces the built environment's impact on landscape and waterways, moving between film, camera-less photography, and long exposures that expose more noise than image. We discussed sequencing, leaving the camera behind, and what it means to photograph a place "from" the environment rather than "of" it.
