Isabella Rose Young is a multidisciplinary artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand with Forest Finn and Sámi ancestry. Holding a Master of Fine Arts with First Class Honours from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design (2022), her practice explores the creative intersections of art, environmental science, ephemerality and the intangible interconnectedness between humans and the natural world. Working intentionally slowly through analogue photography, moving image, painting and writing, she invites meteorological forces, environmental phenomena and seasonal change to become active collaborators in her creative process.
As a Waikato-based painter and printmaker, tutoring at the Waikato Society of Arts, my work blends experimental techniques with deep personal and environmental reflection. I explore local landscapes, architecture, derelict buildings, and found objects, using colour, texture, and sustainable materials to evoke emotion and memory. Influenced by my background in Zoology and Architectural Technology, my work often merges structural form with organic elements - capturing resilience, connection, and the courage to pursue creative freedom.
I am a computational artisan, artist, and independent researcher exploring the coexistence of computational systems, matter, craft knowledge, and territory. Through Metatiles, I develop generative and parametric systems that move beyond the screen, using pen plotters as a bridge between computational systems and ceramics. My practice explores how computational precision encounters material behaviour, allowing experimentation and transformation to open new possibilities.
I am a Wellington-based abstract artist working primarily in acrylic and mixed media. My practice explores the relationship between structure and spontaneity through layered materials, collage, colour and expressive mark-making. I work intuitively, building and obscuring layers to create depth, movement and a balance between energy and stillness.

An open-call stamp issue for emerging New Zealand artists, built around one idea: a stamp worthy of the letters people actually keep. Four artists, four stamps, a limited print release, and a bespoke frame whose scalloped edge echoes the perforation of a stamp. NZ Post passed — their programme is theme-led and works with designers tied to each theme, which is fair enough. But the concept stands on its own, so here it is. The frame isn't fully developed, but is my favourite part.

Artist Feature 008: Lucas Cantlon. Pōneke-based photographer, producer and director, Lucas works across documentary, live production, radio, music and photography, moving between the crew and the stage often enough that the two stop being separate positions. They have a keen eye for the vernacular, and photographs that capture the feeling of a time and place. We discussed what a performance looks like from behind the camera, what humour can say that sincerity can't, and why Wellington is far from dead.
