"light" Photography Exhibition

A Smith Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for "light," an online exhibition exploring the theme of light (sunny, cloudless, ablaze, lucent, aglow, beaming, shiny, luminous, brilliant, radiant, bright...). The exhibition will be juried by Elizabeth Avedon, an independent curator, photography book designer, and writer. What's Provided for Selected Artists: Up to 47 images will be selected for the online exhibition. Selected artists receive: Social media features across Facebook and Instagram. Inclusion in a "GalleryTalk" discussion hosted by the Gallery Directors. Listing in the gallery's online store (the gallery retains a 30% commission on sales). Inclusion in an official exhibition catalogue available for purchase. "The 27" Hardbound Book: 27 of the selected images will be chosen for a hardbound fine art book of the exhibition. Awards: Jurors Award: An online solo exhibition (scheduled for one month), "The 27" exhibition book, and a feature story on the gallery blog. Directors Award: "The 27" exhibition book and a feature story on the gallery blog. Visitors Award (Most Instagram Likes): $100 USD (approx. $170 NZD). Submission Guidelines & Fees: Entry Fee: $40 USD (approx. $68 NZD) for the first 5 images, plus $5 USD (approx. $8.50 NZD) per each additional image. Bonus Review: Photographers submitting 13 or more images receive a complimentary 30-minute portfolio review by the gallery directors. Those submitting fewer than 13 can add a review for $20 USD. Image Specs: Digital images should be 1800 pixels on the longest side, saved in JPEG format at 72 ppi. Do not watermark your images. File Naming: Label with consecutive numbers followed by your name (e.g., 1FirstName_LastName.jpg). Eligibility: Open to all photographers, professional and amateur, working in all photographic mediums and styles. Ineligible Work: Work previously exhibited in an A Smith Gallery competition is not eligible. AI Policy: Images created with Artificial Intelligence are not accepted due to copyright and litigation concerns. All submissions are judged blindly.
