About
Residency programme at Bundanon for individual artists, collaborative groups, or companies across all artforms, running mid-March to end of November 2027.
Bundanon's 2027 Artists in Residence programme invites professional artists, curators, researchers, collaborative groups, and incorporated companies to apply for a residency at the iconic Bundanon property on the Shoalhaven River in New South Wales.
Residencies run from mid-March through to the end of November 2027, with stays available in 1-week (6 nights), 2-week (13 nights), or 3-week (20 nights) blocks. Residencies begin on Monday afternoons and conclude on Sunday mornings. While Bundanon aims to accommodate your preferred timing, flexibility is appreciated.
There are no required outcomes — you won't be asked to acquit or formally report on your residency. Applications are assessed by artform peer assessors across three criteria: Artistic Merit (40%), Impact of the Residency (40%), and Viability of Proposal (20%).
A range of facilities are available, including studio space, writing space, acoustic studio, sprung floor performance space, and a silversmith studio. Equipment such as audio production desks, pianos, printing presses, easels, and data projectors may also be requested.
Several Fellowships and Awards are available through the same application:
- Dobell Foundation Artist in Residence Award — for visual artists
- JMGA NSW Jewellery and Metalsmith Award — for current JMGA NSW members and residents
- Bundanon First Nations Fellowship — for First Nations artists
- Bundanon Artist with Disability Fellowship — for artists who identify as living with disability or who are d/Deaf
If you are not awarded a Fellowship or Award, you may still be offered a standard residency place.
Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 or over, and must not have held a Bundanon residency in the past 5 years (for groups, this applies to any group members).
Bundanon is committed to accessibility and cultural safety, and welcomes applications from First Nations artists, artists with disability, LGBTQIA+ artists, and culturally and linguistically diverse practitioners.
Applications open 20 April 2026 and close 1 June 2026 at 5:00pm. No late submissions are accepted. Results are expected in September 2026.
