Landscape Open 2026

Now in its second year, the Landscape Open is an exhibition at Salisbury Museum celebrating the breadth of landscape in contemporary art. Salisbury Museum is based in the King’s House, an impressive Grade I listed medieval building in Wiltshire, southern England. It is surrounded by landscapes and monuments that have inspired generations of artists, like Stonehenge, Cranborne Chase, and the New Forest. While rooted in a place with a powerful creative legacy, the exhibition is not limited to depictions of the local area and embraces interpretations of landscape from anywhere in the world. Artists working in any medium are invited to submit work that responds to the theme of landscape and explores, depicts, or interprets it in all its forms. Entries might include traditional rural scenes, cityscapes, and many other perspectives across 2D and 3D media. Prizes: Approximately 75 works will be selected for the group exhibition (October 17, 2026 – January 31, 2027). First Prize: The winning artist will receive £1,000 GBP (approx. $2,100 NZD) and a solo exhibition at Salisbury Museum. Student Prize: Students are eligible for a Student Mentoring Prize. People's Choice: All entrants can compete for the People's Choice Award. Submission Guidelines & Fees: Open to artists in the UK and internationally. Artists can submit up to 3 works. Size Limits: 2D framed works max 2.4m any dimension; 3D max 50cm longest side; moving image max 10 minutes. Weight limit is 18kg. Standard Entry: 1 artwork: £17 GBP (approx. $35 NZD); 2 artworks: £32 GBP; 3 artworks: £45 GBP. Student Entry: 1 artwork: £15 GBP; 2 artworks: £28 GBP; 3 artworks: £39 GBP.
