Three- and six-month residencies offering dedicated time and space for international visual artists with at least three years of professional practice.
The NARS Foundation International Artist Residency Program offers three-month and six-month residencies for international visual artists. The program provides dedicated time and space to develop work, alongside opportunities for professional development and engagement with the NARS community. We are currently accepting applications on a rolling basis for 2026. Eligibility & Requirements: Open to international visual artists with an active professional practice of at least three years. (Artists who have resided in the US for three years or longer must apply via the separate US-based open call). Students are not eligible. All information submitted on the application form, CV, and support materials must be in English. Residency Fees & Artist Responsibilities: Artists are responsible for securing their own funding for the program fee. A list of previous international funders can be found on the NARS website. Application Fee: $35 USD (approx. $60 NZD) non-refundable. Three-Month Residency (One Season): $9,900 USD (approx. $17,125 NZD). Six-Month Residency (Two Seasons): $18,770 USD (approx. $32,470 NZD). Payment Details & Policies: Deposit: If selected, a $2,000 USD (approx. $3,460 NZD) deposit is due within 30 days of your acceptance notice to secure your spot. This will be deducted from the total program fee balance. Application Materials Needed: Completed online application form. Up-to-date CV (including date and place of birth, and citizenship). Residency term preference, plus one alternative date. Proposed residency project or activities statement (max 400 words). Artist Bio (max 300 words). Up to 10 work samples (images, audio, or video links) with descriptions detailing Title, Year, Medium, and Dimensions.
