Photographic Performance 2026

A Smith Gallery is seeking compelling solo or cooperative exhibitions for its online gallery. For the seventh year of "Photographic Performance," the gallery is looking for a body of work or an exhibition concept that is photography-based. Entries can feature photographic images only, photography combined with mixed media, photography as sculpture, or photography-based installations. It is important that the body of work has a conceptual narrative, actual or implied. Up to four proposals will be selected to be featured sequentially on a monthly basis beginning in July 2026. In addition, ten entries will be selected by the gallery directors to receive professional reviews of their submitted projects. What’s Provided for Selected Portfolios: A featured online exhibition. Consultation with gallery directors (Amanda Smith and Kevin Tully) concerning the project. A "GalleryTalk" posted on the gallery's blog. An exhibition catalogue including a forward by the gallery directors, your artist statement, and exhibition images. Sales: The gallery retains a 30% commission on any sales. Submission Guidelines & Fees: Entry Fee: $75 USD (approx. $127 NZD) per proposal. Submission fees are non-refundable. Portfolio: Submit 12 to 20 images. Written Materials: Your Artist Statement and Bio must be emailed directly to amanda@asmithgallery.com. Image Specs: Digital images should be up to 1800 pixels on the longest side, saved in JPEG format at 72 ppi. Do not watermark your images. File Naming: Each image should be labeled with consecutive numbers followed by your name (e.g., 1FirstName_LastName.jpg), corresponding to your application form. Eligibility Rules: Open to all photographers, both professional and amateur, working in all photographic mediums and styles. International entries are welcomed. Ineligible Work: Work previously exhibited in an A Smith Gallery competition is not eligible. AI Policy: Images created with Artificial Intelligence are not accepted due to copyright and litigation concerns.
