About
Nominate artists from anywhere in the world for the Artes Mundi 12 international exhibition and prize, with a £40,000 award for the winner.
Artes Mundi is calling for nominations for its 12th international exhibition and prize, open from 7 April until 31 May. Based in Cardiff, Wales, Artes Mundi is the flagship international visual arts organisation for Wales, celebrating its 22nd year with this edition.
Anyone with an interest in or connection to the visual arts can nominate an artist — there's no requirement to be an arts professional. Nominations are made via an online form on the Artes Mundi website.
Artists from anywhere in the world are eligible. Nominees should be well known within their own country or region and have some experience exhibiting internationally. The prize is open to artists considered emerging through to mid-career.
All nominations will be reviewed by an independent jury, who will work with Artes Mundi to select artists for the biennial exhibition. Those selected will also form the shortlist for the AM12 Prize. The winning artist will receive £40,000 GBP.
AM12 continues Artes Mundi's focus on the 'Human Condition' — presenting contemporary work that engages with the urgent social realities and lived experiences of our times. Past prize winners include Taloi Havini (2024), Firelei Báez, Theaster Gates, John Akomfrah, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and many more internationally recognised artists.
