About
Free curatorial competition for emerging curators aged 18–35 to select works from the ArtGraduates collection and write an original essay.
Fresh Edit is a free, open curatorial competition from ArtGraduates that invites emerging curators, art history students, and recent graduates (aged 18–35) to flex their curatorial voice using the ArtGraduates collection of 100+ contemporary visual artists.
Your task is to select at least 5 artworks from at least 3 different artists within the collection, then write an original curatorial essay (500–2,000 words) that unpacks the thematic, conceptual, or art-historical connections between your chosen works. You're also welcome to include an optional exhibition concept describing how the works could be shown together — physically or virtually.
The five strongest projects will each be published as a full article in ArtGraduates Magazine (ISSN 3029-9292), translated into 17 languages. The best project wins a $300 USD prize and may also be realised as a physical exhibition — the team is currently exploring venues in Brno.
Selected curators receive a curator profile with bio, photo, and links to their website and social media, plus a professional curatorial reference for their CV and portfolio.
Submissions are accepted in any language. AI-generated texts will be disqualified — your writing must be entirely your own.
To apply: register via the form on the ArtGraduates website. Once approved, you'll receive access to the curator preview page with all artworks in full resolution. When your project is ready, email it to info@artgraduates.com with the subject line "Fresh Edit: [Your Project Title]" by August 1, 2026. Results will be announced August 11, 2026.
No entry fee. No nationality restriction. Open to anyone with a genuine interest in curatorial practice.
