About
Apply for a fully funded 6-month studio residency in New York, culminating in a solo exhibition or open studio and a $250 USD honorarium.
Tiger Strikes Asteroid New York and Transmitter Gallery are excited to announce the TNT Residency, a 6-month, fully funded 430-square-foot studio adjacent to both galleries at 1329 Willoughby Avenue in New York. This open call is for the Summer 2026 cycle, which will commence on July 5, 2026, and culminate in a potential solo exhibition (or an open studio event, depending on the resident's priorities) from November 7 through December 13, 2026. The residency will prioritise underrepresented artists and artists who produce works not always viable in traditional commercial markets. We encourage artists from all educational backgrounds to apply, and we are excited to see work from artists based across the United States and internationally. Residency Benefits: A fully funded 430-square-foot workspace. A solo exhibition or open studio event. A $250 USD (approx. $425 NZD) honorarium. Professional installation shots of the exhibition. (Important Note: We do not provide housing. If you are not based in NYC, you are responsible for securing housing. Residents may not live in or stay overnight in the studio). Eligibility Requirements: Open to professional working artists only. Currently enrolled students are not eligible to apply. Submission Guidelines & Fees: Fee: $35 USD (approx. $59 NZD). This fee goes toward operating expenses for the volunteer-run galleries. If you require a fee waiver, contact residencyTNT@gmail.com. Submit 5 works (JPGs or a combination of MP4s and JPGs). JPGs must be 2000 pixels at the largest dimension. Video clips must be in MP4 format (if using SlideRoom) or embedded via YouTube/Vimeo. Videos must be no longer than 3 minutes. Title, media, dimensions, and year are required for all submitted items.
