Compete Framed: Black and White

Black Box Gallery is excited to announce "Framed: Black and White," a juried group photo show. The gallery is looking for a diversity of photographic works and ideas that engage with the luminous, thoughtfully composed tradition of black and white photography, utilizing a modern voice and aesthetic. The exhibition will be juried by Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery. Exhibition Details (May 1–25, 2026): 26 photographs will be selected for exhibition at the physical gallery. An additional 50 photographs will be selected for exhibition in the online gallery annex. All 76 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Free Printing & Framing: Black Box provides free printing, matting, and framing for all physical exhibitions. Selected photographers only need to provide a high-resolution TIFF or JPEG file. Sales & Archives: The gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales. If the artist prefers, the print can be marked "not for sale" and used for exhibition and promotion only. Exhibition prints are kept in a flat file for 5 years for future promotion to collectors and curators, after which they are destroyed. No file or print will be sold or reproduced without the photographer's prior consent. Submission Guidelines & Fees: Entry Fee: $40 USD (approx. $68 NZD) per entry. One entry includes up to 5 photos. Fees are paid via PayPal. How to Apply: After paying the entry fee, send an email to info.blackboxgallery@gmail.com with the subject line "Framed: Black and White". Email Body: Include your Name, Call for Entry Name, Instagram (optional), and the titles of your included photos with corresponding file names. File Specs: Attach up to 5 JPEG files, sized to 1200 pixels on the longest side at 72 PPI, 5 MB or less each. File Naming: firstname_lastname1.jpg, firstname_lastname2.jpg, etc.
