About
Annual $25,000 award supporting early career NZ choreographers to develop a new contemporary dance work over six months.
The Tup Lang Choreographic Award is an annual $25,000 award supporting a choreographer working in New Zealand contemporary dance to develop a new work over a six-month period. Priority is given to emerging choreographers at the early stage of their career.
The award contributes towards living costs, materials, and resources needed to develop the new work — giving recipients dedicated time and financial support to focus on their creative practice.
To be eligible, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident and a choreographer of contemporary dance at the early stage of their career.
Applications are made through the Creative Fellowship Fund – Round 2. Confirmed details for the next funding round, including advice and support to apply, will be available in June 2026.
