CTM Festival
Commission for experimental sound/audio art works to premiere live at CTM 2027 Berlin and broadcast on German and Austrian public radio.
CTM Festival is evolving its long-running Radio Lab into a new initiative called In Listening, a collaboration with Germany's Deutschlandfunk Kultur and Austria's ORF public radio. This open call invites artists working in experimental sound, audio art, sonic narrative, and conceptual listening practices to propose new commissioned works.
Two works will be selected and each supported with a fee of €6,000. Selected works will premiere as live performances at CTM 2027 (22–31 January 2027) in Berlin's silent green Kuppelhalle — an intimate space where audiences are seated around performers within a 6.1-channel PA system — and will also be adapted into a 40–55 minute radio piece for broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur's Klangkunst programme (Spring 2027) and ORF Ö1 (Autumn 2027).
Works should respond to CTM 2027's theme Process…ing, and explore active listening as both a personal and relational act. Sound is the primary medium — text and music can play integral roles, but proposals centred on video or complex scenography are outside the scope of this call. The radio version must be developed as a standalone listening experience, not simply a performance recording.

Applications must be submitted in English and include: a project description with rough budget (max 4 pages), technical requirements, and CV(s) — all as PDFs labelled with your first and last name.
The jury includes Jan Rohlf (CTM Festival), Marcus Gammel (Deutschlandfunk Kultur), Anna Soucek (ORF Ö1), and one independent artist to be announced with results.
