About
An international painting competition with a US$130,000 prize pool, inviting artists to explore themes of Mt. Jade, Music, or Sustainability.
Black Door Gallery invites painters worldwide to apply for the E.SUN Art Awards, an international painting competition established by E.SUN Bank in Taiwan. This open call for artists offers a platform to present your work on a global stage while engaging with contemporary painting in all its diversity and conceptual depth. This year’s award is centered around three open and thought-provoking themes: • Mt. Jade — Taiwan’s highest peak (3,952m), inspiring ideas of scale, endurance, landscape, and presence. • Music — exploring rhythm, movement, mood, and memory through visual expression. • Sustainability — addressing environmental awareness, material consciousness, and responses to a changing world. Each theme is intentionally broad, allowing artists to interpret and respond through their own painterly language and creative approach. Submissions are open to oil, acrylic, and gouache paintings, with an emphasis on originality and contemporary practice. Artists are encouraged to review all size requirements and submission details prior to applying. The International category offers significant recognition, including a First Prize, up to three Special Prizes, and up to five Merit Awards. Selected artists will receive cash prizes, official certification, and inclusion in a published collection of winning works. The total prize pool is US$130,000. Finalists Announced: 18 September 2026 via E.SUN Bank’s official website. Artwork Guidelines: Maximum size 72.5 x 91 cm. Selected works must be shipped unstretched and rolled. Artists are responsible for shipping costs; works will be framed locally for exhibition. With a strong commitment to supporting artists globally, E.SUN Bank continues to champion creative voices across borders. Black Door Gallery is proud to support the Awards’ international reach across New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore—encouraging painters to take part in this exciting opportunity to share their work with the world.
