About
Six €23,000 grants for artists of any nationality to pursue training, research or individual production projects over nine months.
Fundación Botín is offering six Art Grants totalling €23,000 each to support artists of any nationality in completing training, research, or individual production projects (practical rather than theoretical). One of the six grants is reserved as a priority for a Spanish artist — or someone who has been resident in Spain for at least five years — who is under 30 and has a concrete plan to relocate abroad to carry out their project.
Grants cover a nine-month period and can be used for living expenses, travel, equipment, studio rentals, and other production costs. Travel insurance is provided for grantees who relocate to another country during the grant period. Payments are made in instalments: 45% at the start, 25% at the end of the first trimester, 25% at the end of the second trimester, and the final 5% on submission of a written report (due by 12 November 2027).
The grant period must begin before the end of 2026. Grantees are expected to credit Fundación Botín in all communications and future exhibitions of work produced with the grant. As part of the programme, works produced during the grant period will be presented publicly at Centro Botín for the first time — grantees must agree not to show the project elsewhere before this exhibition takes place. Fundación Botín's Art Advisory Committee may also choose to acquire works from grantees.
Applications are accepted in Spanish or English, and must be submitted both online (via the Fundación Botín website) and in print by post, postmarked no later than 8 May 2026. Required documents include a valid ID, CV, project description (goal, action plan, and schedule), and graphic documentation of existing work. Results will be announced before 17 July 2026.
