About
Submit a short climate fiction story (2,000–3,500 words) envisioning a resilient future, with selected works showcased at UNFCCC SB64 in Bonn.
SLYCAN Trust and Resilience Frontiers — the foresight initiative under the UN's Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) — are calling for short climate fiction stories that dare to imagine a desirable future beyond the limits of current forecasts and imagination.
Using the eight transformative pathways of Resilience Frontiers as a guide, your story should offer a glimpse of what a resilient, thriving world could look like. Submissions can take any form — non-linear, experimental, circular, dendritic, or otherwise unconventional narrative structures are warmly welcomed alongside more traditional approaches.
What to submit:
- Short fiction, 2,000–3,500 words
- Written in English
- Original, previously unpublished work
- One entry per participant
Writers retain full copyright of their work. By submitting, you agree that if selected, SLYCAN Trust and Resilience Frontiers may publish or showcase your piece in connection with the contest and related communications.
Selection process:
All entries are screened for eligibility (originality, word count, submission requirements), then reviewed by a panel of experts in climate change research and creative writing.
Recognition:
Selected stories will be published and showcased at the Climate Event Hub at The Stage Gallery in Bonn, on the sidelines of the UNFCCC June Climate Meetings (SB64), 3–10 June 2026.
This is a rare opportunity to place creative writing at the heart of global climate dialogue — and to have your vision of a better world heard on an international stage.
