About

Global open call for artists and researchers to present at a visual culture symposium in Washington DC and exhibit at CICA Museum in Korea.

The International Symposium for Visual Culture (ISVC) 2026 is a global gathering for artists, scholars, and researchers exploring critical perspectives on visual culture. The programme has two key components: a symposium and popup exhibition at Montgomery College's Cafritz Foundation Arts Center in Silver Spring (adjacent to Washington DC), and an international exhibition — 'Visual Culture 2026' — at the CICA Museum in South Korea.

Symposium (September 19–20, 2026) takes place in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. Accepted presenters can submit proposals for paper presentations, workshops, experimental sessions, and artistic performances. Attendance is in person; online sessions are no longer available. Each accepted presenter or team receives three complimentary general admission tickets.

Exhibition at CICA Museum (September 9–27, 2026) is held in Korea. Each artist may submit up to two works. The museum handles printing and framing for photographs and 2D digital works (10×15 or 10×10 inches standard). Video and interactive art can use museum-provided projectors and DVD/DIVX players. Physical works and installations are welcome within specified size and weight limits; shipping costs are the artist's responsibility.

Popup Show at Maze Gallery, Montgomery College (September 19–20, 2026) is optional for symposium presenters, who may bring one work. Artists manage their own delivery, installation, and collection.

All participating artists and researchers will be featured in *New Media Art 2027*, a full-colour publication released by CICA Press in December 2026.

Topics welcomed include: art and capitalism, new media art, AI and humanism, feminist studies on visual culture, race and identity, digital culture, ecological perspectives, bio art, global mobility and diaspora, archival art, immersive media, and more.

To apply, email your short bio, abstract (150–300 words, DOC or PDF), and optional artwork proposal to submission@cicamuseum.com with the subject line: *Submission: Visual Culture 2026 – [Your Name]*.
