About

A bespoke mentorship programme for artists working in performing arts for children and young people, running May–December 2026.

PAYPA – Performing Arts & Young People Aotearoa – is inviting applications for its 2026 Mentorship Programme, designed to support artists and practitioners working in performing arts for, by, and with children and young people (ages 0–25).

Participants are matched with an experienced mentor and receive a small stipend for their engagement. Each mentorship is bespoke and tailored to your individual goals, with a maximum of 10 hours of mentoring time. The programme runs from May to December 2026.

Areas of focus can include

  • Working collaboratively with children
  • Working with schools
  • Touring
  • Funding
  • Company management
  • Playwriting and devising
  • Building international connections
  • And more

This opportunity is open to both emerging artists and established practitioners who want to deepen their professional development within the sector.

Verbal and video submissions are welcome in addition to written applications. If you're interested in becoming a mentor (rather than a mentee), you're also encouraged to get in touch.
