About
International juried photography exhibition celebrating World Photography Day, with 75 selected works shown in gallery, online, and a printed catalogue.
PhotoPlace Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for Open Call: A Celebration of Contemporary Photography — a juried exhibition honouring the creativity, diversity, and evolving practice of photography today.
Presented in celebration of World Photography Day (19 August), this is one of PhotoPlace Gallery's most open and inclusive calls of the year. All photographic subjects, styles, and processes are welcome — from landscape, portraiture, and documentary to conceptual, experimental, and alternative practices. Whether your work is traditional or experimental, personal or universal, this is a chance to showcase where your photography is right now.
Jurors Paula Tognarelli (recently retired Executive Director of the Griffin Museum of Photography) and Gallery Director Zach Hoffman will select up to 35 images for exhibition at the Middlebury, Vermont gallery space, and a further 40 images for the Online Gallery. All 75 selected images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalogue, remain permanently on the PhotoPlace website, and be promoted on social media with links to photographers' own pages.
Important note on AI: Fully AI-generated images are not eligible. Submitted work must originate through the use of a camera, light, and the photographer's own creative vision. AI-assisted editing tools are permitted, but the image must be artist-driven.
Fees: $39 USD for 5 images; $6 USD per additional image.
