About
Ongoing open call for artist projects across Te Tuhi's Project Wall, public billboards in Pakuranga and Parnell, and outdoor Speaker Space.
Te Tuhi offers artists three distinct, publicly accessible exhibition opportunities at their East Auckland gallery and beyond.
Project Wall
Running since 2006, the Project Wall sits at the rear entrance of Te Tuhi — the most-used access point for the gallery's 150,000+ annual visitors. The wall measures 2590mm (h) x 5035mm (w) and is constructed from 20mm chipboard. Power can be supplied if needed. The space receives significant natural light and direct sunlight at certain times of year, so proposals should account for material durability and lightfastness. Think of it as a transitional space experienced by a wide and diverse audience.
Te Tuhi Billboards
Two sets of three billboards at separate Auckland locations — one on Reeves Road opposite Te Tuhi, and another at Parnell Station (launched 2019). Projects should encompass all six panels, each measuring 2400mm (h) x 3000mm (w). Files should be provided at 25% of actual size, 300dpi, in PDF format. Consider that viewers at Parnell Station are often in transit, catching the work en route to the platform. Both new commissions and proposals to adapt existing works are welcome.
Speaker Space
A four-channel outdoor sound space beneath the canopy at Te Tuhi's front entrance, experienced by roughly 40% of the gallery's annual visitors. The system runs on a Mac Mini (2012) with Ableton Live, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, and four Onesystems 103IM speakers powered by AV Link Sa2 amplifiers.
Applications close 9am Monday 20 April 2026. If you have questions about specifications or want to discuss a proposal, get in touch directly with the Te Tuhi team.
