Ásmundarsalur 2027 Exhibition Open Call

Ásmundarsalur, an independent non-profit exhibition space in downtown Reykjavik, is inviting proposals for its 2027 exhibition year. The call is open to artists internationally across several categories:

Solo or Group Shows – 5–6 week exhibition slots in the 72 sqm main gallery on the second floor.

Art in Café – Exhibition opportunities in the first-floor café space.

Open Studio Residency – 4–8 week terms in the 25 sqm Gunnfríðargryfja studio, used as an open workshop for your practice.

Performance Art – Dedicated slots in the 2027 schedule for performing artists.

Ásmundarsalur supports selected artists with promotional materials, professional photography, an exhibition catalogue, and refreshments for the opening reception. There is no application fee.

Please note: installation and de-installation are entirely the artist's responsibility, and the space must be returned to its original condition. Ásmundarsalur takes a 25% commission on art sales and 30% on event ticket sales — all of which supports their ongoing non-profit cultural programme.

How to apply: Submit a single PDF (max 2MB, max 10 pages) including your CV, exhibition title and artist statement, and portfolio documentation. Select your specific category on the Ásmundarsalur website when submitting.

Notification of results: 15 September 2026.

Exhibition/residency dates: Scheduled throughout the 2027 calendar year.
