About
International painting prize offering €90,000 in awards, with finalists exhibited at the Ateneo de Madrid near the Prado Museum.
TARTGET Painting Prize is an international competition dedicated to celebrating contemporary painting across every style, technique, and tradition. Now in its second edition, the prize is open to painters from anywhere in the world — from emerging young artists to established masters.
The prize offers €90,000 in total awards, spanning main prizes (Gold, Silver, and Bronze TARTGET), technical awards (Watercolour TARTGET, Drawing TARTGET), a Fusion TARTGET for abstract and conceptual works, a Young Artist Prize for painters under 25, plus acquisition prizes, art materials, educational grants, and promotional opportunities.
Finalist works will be exhibited at the prestigious Ateneo de Madrid — a landmark cultural venue steps away from the Prado Museum, at the heart of one of the world's great art capitals. Selected works will be presented to collectors, sponsors, and cultural agents, with the option for acquisition.
Categories include:
- Urban & Industrial Landscape
- Natural & Outdoor Landscape
- Animals & Wildlife
- Still Life & Everyday Objects
- Figure & Portrait

Works must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously awarded in other competitions. All traditional pictorial techniques are welcome — oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, graphite, charcoal, gouache, tempera, printmaking, graffiti, mixed media, and collage. Photography, digital painting, and digitally altered works are not eligible.
Minimum work dimensions are 40×40 cm (or combined width + height of at least 80 cm). Maximum is 180×180 cm (or combined width + height not exceeding 360 cm).
A single artwork may be entered across multiple categories, increasing your chances of recognition. Artists may also submit multiple works, with progressive discounts applied for additional entries.
Registration is completed through the official website, where artists create a profile and submit up to three JPG images per work. Reduced entry rates apply for the Young Artist category.
