About
Emergency financial assistance of up to $15,000 USD for painters, sculptors, or printmakers facing a sudden catastrophic crisis.
The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant offers one-time financial assistance to painters, sculptors, and printmakers who are facing a sudden, catastrophic crisis — such as a fire, flood, or urgent medical situation — and don't have the resources to cope on their own.
To be eligible, you must have at least ten years of sustained, mature practice in painting, sculpture, or printmaking. Awards typically sit around $5,000 USD, with a maximum of $15,000 USD, and are assessed individually on merit. Because the programme operates within a fixed annual budget, funding is not guaranteed — once the budget is exhausted, no further applications can be assessed that fiscal year.
This grant is strictly for acute, unforeseen emergencies. It cannot assist with dental work, chronic conditions, capital improvements, creative projects, general debt, or unemployment. Third-party applications are only accepted when the artist is physically unable to communicate directly with the Foundation.
Once you submit a complete application, review typically takes around four weeks — though situations with urgent timelines are given priority. Apply through the Foundation's online portal, where you'll create a personal account to access and submit the application form.
