About

The Hopper Prize offers unrestricted artist grants up to $4,500 USD. Open to international artists aged 18 and older working in any media.

The Hopper Prize is a grant-making institution and digital archiving platform offering a series of individual artist grants on a bi-annual basis. The Hopper Prize was established to provide grants, visibility, and career-enhancing validation to artists who demonstrate a serious commitment to their work. Grant winners and finalists are chosen solely on the basis of artistic excellence and the promise of future potential, joining an international roster of past recipients who have gone on to exhibit their work at major galleries, museums, arts fairs, and biennials. Grants & Benefits: Grant awards are unrestricted and may be used any way the recipients choose. For this cycle, the following awards are available: $4,500 Grant: 2 artists will each receive a $4,500 USD (approx. $7,650 NZD) grant. $1,000 Grant: 4 artists will each receive a $1,000 USD (approx. $1,700 NZD) grant. Shortlist & Archiving: 30 artists will be shortlisted and have their work archived at hopperprize.org. Exposure: A selection of submissions will be featured on the @hopperprize Instagram feed. Grant recipients and shortlisted artists will also receive the opportunity to publish an interview in the online Journal Insights Into Contemporary Art. Eligibility: Open to all artists globally aged 18 and older. The Hopper Prize is committed to supporting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds at all stages of their professional careers. There are no restrictions on genre, subject matter, or media. Application Guidelines: The application is short and designed to be completed quickly online. Entry Fee: $40 USD (approx. $68 NZD) for the submission of up to 10 images.
