A fee-based, process-focused artist residency in a historic boatbuilding workshop in Duncan, Vancouver Island, hosting up to four artists at a time.
The Ou-telier Artist Residency & Writing Retreat 2027 offers a calm, process-focused environment for writers, painters, photographers, textile artists, and 2D artists working on Vancouver Island, BC. Hosted by The Ou Gallery — an artist-run space since 2017 — the residency is set inside a historic boatbuilding workshop in the Cowichan Valley, just outside of downtown Duncan, on the traditional territory of the Quw'utsun people.
Up to four artists can be hosted at a time, making this an intimate experience designed for those who are self-directed, committed to their practice, and ready to focus without the pressure of a final exhibition or workshop outcome. Collaborators are welcome to apply.
What's included:
Programme fees (excluding 5% GST):
Artists are responsible for their own travel, meals, and supplies. Please note the accommodation is not wheelchair accessible (requires descending stairs), pets are not permitted, and external guests are not allowed on site.
