About
A funded 4-week residency in Kerikeri to create an outdoor artwork for the Wharepuke Sculpture Trail, open to NZ and international artists.
The Wharepuke Dalton Trust Artist Residency 2026 is now open for proposals from New Zealand and international artists. Valued at $6,400 NZD in total, this funded residency invites you to create a new work for the Wharepuke Sculpture Trail in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands.
Proposed works must be suitable for outdoor display and can take many forms — sculpture, installation, sound, video, 2D or 3D works are all welcome.
What you receive:
- A 4-week residency between 15 July and 30 September 2026 (exact dates negotiated with Wharepuke)
- Artist fee of $4,000 NZD
- Accommodation in a self-contained one-bedroom cottage set within 5 acres of subtropical garden of national significance — partners and family are welcome
Selected artist will be notified by 31 May 2026.
