
Art Explora - Cité internationale des arts
Fully funded 3–6 month Paris residency open to artists, collectives, researchers, curators and writers of all nationalities with 5+ years experience.
Art Explora and the Cité internationale des arts are inviting artists, collectives, researchers, curators, and writers from around the world to apply for their 2027 residency programme in Paris.
This is a genuinely open and internationally minded programme — there are no age restrictions, and applicants of all nationalities are welcome. The main requirement is a minimum of five years of professional practice and a track record of exhibiting or presenting work at an international level.
Residencies run for either 3 or 6 months, across two sessions:
Eligible disciplines include visual arts, performance and live arts, digital arts, and curatorial practices. Research applications from the humanities, social sciences, cultural studies, history, technological innovation, and ecology are also welcomed.
Two programme tracks are available:
SOLO Programme — for individual artists and writers working across visual arts, performance, digital practices, literary works, or other experimental disciplines. Each resident receives:
COLLECTIVE Programme — for artist collectives, or collectives that include researchers and/or curators working collaboratively. Only one application is needed per collective. Each collective receives:
Up to twenty residents are selected each year by a distinguished international committee that includes figures such as Hans Ulrich Obrist (Serpentine Galleries), Stuart Comer (MoMA), and Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev. The committee evaluates professional background, project quality, thematic connection to the residency, and the relevance of a Paris location to the project's development.
