Biennial $5,000 AUD grant for artists who support their practice through labour in the art industry — no required outcomes or acquittal.
The Art Worker Artist Grant is a biennial grant created to support artists whose livelihoods are tied to the art industry — whether through handling, exhibiting, caring for, fabricating, framing, conserving, moving, or stewarding artworks.
For the 2026 edition, one recipient will receive $5,000 AUD to use however best supports their artistic development. There are no prescribed outcomes and no acquittal required. Funds can go toward studio time, travel, materials, equipment, healthcare, childcare, research, living expenses, rest — whatever the artist needs.
The grant is open to anyone who supports their creative practice through any form of art-sector labour, including work in museums, galleries, artist studios, private collections, auction houses, art fairs, fabrication and framing workshops, conservation labs, art logistics and crating companies, or art storage facilities.

2026 Key Dates (AEST)
The recipient is selected by an independent jury comprising curator Andria Hickey, artist and publisher Clynton Lowry, and photographer Paul Graham. The grant is overseen and funded by Artist Engineering.
