ArtsWhau Community Arts Funding

Each year, the Whau Local Board funds creative projects that bring people together through art via the ArtsWhau programme. These projects celebrate what makes the Whau unique, amplify the community's many voices, and create opportunities for everyone to experience and participate in the arts.

Individuals, artists, and organisations based in or connected to the Whau community are encouraged to apply. Before submitting, read through the funding information on the ArtsWhau website to understand what can be supported and what they're looking for.

Not sure if your idea fits? You don't have to figure it out alone. Whau Community Arts Broker Jody Yawa McMillan works alongside local creatives and communities to develop ideas, make connections, and bring projects to life. Get in touch for a kōrero before you apply.

Applications ask about your project concept, the team delivering it, community outcomes, timing, and budget. You'll also be invited to share whether your project involves kaupapa Māori, Māori artists, communities, knowledge, or cultural practices — though not every funded project is expected to include these elements.

Proposals close at 11:59pm on Monday 7 September 2026.
