About

International jury-led photography award offering a €15,000 prize, residency, mentorship, and publication for early career photographers.

The Belmond Photographic Residency is an annual international award designed to challenge and reimagine travel photography. Rather than celebrating the familiar or expected, this residency seeks out photographers whose work is genuinely original — artists who can transport viewers somewhere new and express a deep, personal understanding of place.

Each year, a jury of leading photographic experts and contemporary tastemakers selects one outstanding early career photographer to receive a full package of support: an all-expenses-covered residency at a Belmond property, a financial award of €15,000, a print publication in partnership with RVB Books, a showcase in a global city, and mentorship from Belmond's network of photographic professionals.

The residency is specifically designed for early career artists. While commercially represented artists may apply, priority is given to those without agent or gallery representation. Submitted work can have been self-published (including on personal social media), but must not have been published by another commercial entity.

The Brief:

Submit a body of 10 images depicting a particular place, destination, or culture. The work should express something beyond the literal — a personal and original point of view, a clear sensation of place, and a distinctive individual visual language. Work can be new or existing, but must not be widely published.

This is a rare opportunity for an emerging photographer to develop a new body of work, receive meaningful industry support, and have their vision shared with a global audience.
