The Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) provides funding for local arts projects in the Horowhenua district. Administered by Horowhenua District Council on behalf of Creative New Zealand, this fund supports projects that help communities engage with the arts, celebrate diverse cultural traditions, and enable young people to participate in creative activity.
Who can apply?
Individuals (who must be NZ citizens or permanent residents) and community groups are both welcome to apply. If you've previously received CCS funding, you'll need to have submitted a report on that project before applying again — unless it's still underway.
What can be funded?
Your project must support at least one of these three priorities:
Fundable costs include materials, venue or equipment hire, short-term personnel and admin costs, and promotion. Most grants are under $2,000, though there is no formal cap.
What can't be funded?
Fundraising activities, school curriculum projects, gallery or venue development, travel costs, equipment purchases (cameras, instruments, costumes etc.), competition entry fees, prize money, royalties, or ongoing administration costs are all excluded.
How to apply:
Applications are made online. You'll need a bank deposit slip or certified bank statement in your organisation's name, latest financial statements (not required for individuals), and two written quotes for any item over $250. Supporting photos are encouraged.
Drop-in sessions are held around Horowhenua to help you decide which grant suits your project and to support you through the application process.
Successful applicants must acknowledge HDC's support in any promotion, complete their project within nine months, and submit an accountability report with receipts.
