About
Open call for choreographers aged 28+ to create a new 8–10 minute work with international contemporary dance students in Tuscania, Italy.
KUTE is an open call inviting choreographers (minimum age 28) from Italy or abroad to create a brand-new work with the dancers of SPECIFIC, a training centre for contemporary dancers directed by Loris Petrillo. This year's SPECIFIC cohort brings together dancers from India, Egypt, Germany, Croatia, Sweden, Brazil, Italy, Serbia, North Macedonia, Morocco, Mexico, and Spain — a genuinely international group to collaborate with.
Selected choreographers will be offered a residency-style creation week (Monday to Friday), working up to 5.5 hours per day. Each day begins with a 30–40 minute warm-up led by the choreographer, followed by creation sessions. The week culminates in a Friday presentation, with the possibility of the piece being included in the SPECIFIC final performance (the choreographer's presence is not required for this).
The finished piece should run between 8 and 10 minutes. Creation weeks will be scheduled between November 2026 and May 2027, with exact dates to be confirmed. All work takes place at the Supercinema in Tuscania, in the province of Viterbo, Italy.
Selected choreographers will receive a fee, accommodation, and travel expense coverage.
To apply, applicants must submit: an artistic CV, a video link (YouTube or Vimeo) of a previous creation (max 15 minutes), and a project proposal. Applications close 5 June 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
KUTE is a project by Loris Petrillo, organised with Anonima Teatri in NotAcademy (a school of art recognised by the Lazio Region), in collaboration with Twain Centro di Produzione Danza.
