About
Grants of up to NZ$6,500 for NZ directors and producers travelling to major international film festivals and markets.
The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) offers international travel grants to help New Zealand filmmakers build connections and opportunities at major film festivals and markets around the world.
Grants of up to NZ$6,500 + GST per trip are available to New Zealand directors and producers who meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible, you must either have a completed feature film premiering at an international festival or market, or have a short film in competition at Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Venice, Hawai'i, or ImagineNative — and in either case, have at least one feature film in advanced development.
Applications need to demonstrate a clear business case with tangible outcomes, a detailed trip plan, and evidence of scheduled meetings with relevant industry contacts.
A few things to keep in mind
- Travel to Australia is not supported under this programme
- Series drama and non-feature film events are not eligible
- Generally, the NZFC will not fund two or more producers attending the same festival for the same project, or multiple producers from the same company at the same event
- A maximum of two grants per applicant per financial year (1 July – 30 June) unless otherwise approved
