About
International open call for visual artists exploring displacement, journey, and the tension between roots and movement, with exhibition and residency in Lisbon.
The Nomad Art Prize is an international open call inviting visual artists of all nationalities (aged 16 and above) to explore themes of displacement, journey, and the tension between roots and movement.
Theme
Artists are encouraged to engage with the idea of art as a living, travelling entity that transforms in relation to its surroundings. Conceptual, formal, and narrative approaches are all welcome — the theme is deliberately open to broad interpretation.
Who Can Apply
Artists at any career stage — emerging or established — working in any visual medium are eligible. Painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, digital art, and mixed media are all accepted. Groups of artists may also apply together.
Submission Requirements
Each application may include 1 to 3 works. For each work, upload one image (JPG or PNG, max 30MB) or provide a YouTube link for video works. You'll also need to include artist details and, for each work: title, description, dimensions, and year of creation.
Entry Fees
- 1 artwork: €50
- 2 artworks: €75
- 3 artworks: €95
Payment is processed via credit/debit card or PayPal.
Selection & Prizes
An international jury of curators will select 8 artists based on artistic quality, conceptual depth, technical execution, and relevance to the theme. Each selected artist receives:
- A €1,000 cash prize
- Inclusion in a full-colour printed and digital catalogue with critical essays
- An invitation to a fully funded one-week creative residency in Lisbon (travel and accommodation covered)
- Participation in a curated group exhibition at LX Factory, Lisbon
Residency & Exhibition
The residency coincides with the exhibition opening in October 2026 at LX Factory — Former Cultural Warehouses, Lisbon. It includes studio time, artist talks, guided visits to cultural venues, and meetings with curators. All on-site production costs (installation, lighting, insurance) are covered by the organisers.
