About

Free global open call for poets, writers, and visual artists to submit work for the sixth edition of Reverie Literary Journal.

Reverie Literary Journal is an independent, international digital and print publication welcoming bold, imaginative voices from around the world. Issue VI is now open for submissions across poetry, prose, fiction, non-fiction, and visual art.

What they're looking for:

Work that evokes, provokes, and takes readers somewhere unexpected. Reverie values strong narrative voice, emotional depth, and structural integrity across all categories. All subjects are welcome, provided content aligns with a respectful, community-minded framework — the journal has a strict zero-tolerance policy for discriminatory or harmful content.

Submission categories:

  • Poetry: Up to 5 poems, maximum 5 pages each. Format stanzas exactly as you wish them to appear.
  • Flash Fiction, Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction & Essays: Up to 3 pieces per submission window, strictly capped at 1,000 words each (longer works occasionally considered). Non-fiction with secondary research must use MLA citation formatting.
  • Visual Art: Up to 5 high-resolution files — photography, digital illustration, painting scans, or documentation of physical works. Submit as .PNG, .PDF, or .JPG attachments.

Eligibility:

  • Open worldwide, regardless of career stage or academic background.
  • Previously published works are accepted — just note the original publication in your submission.
  • Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but notify the team immediately if a piece is accepted elsewhere.
  • One submission packet per reading period only.

Rights: Reverie acquires first publishing and long-term archival rights upon acceptance. All rights revert to the creator immediately after publication. Future reprintings simply require a credit to Reverie as the original publisher.

How to apply:

Email your submission directly to reverie.litjournal@gmail.com. Each piece must be in its own separate file (.PDF, .DOCX, or Google Docs for text; .PNG, .PDF, or .JPG for images — no cloud links without attached files).

Your email must include

  • A subject line in the format: *Full Name, Genre Submission* (e.g. Emily Dickinson, Poetry + Fiction Submission)
  • A list of all attached piece titles in the email body
  • A third-person biographical summary of no more than 50 words

Timeline: Submissions close 1 August 2026. The editorial team aims to respond within one month of receipt. Wait at least two months after the deadline before following up on your submission status.

This is a free submission — no entry fee required.
