Two-week paid residency at Signalman's Cottage on Takarunga/Mt Victoria for writers, creatives and researchers with projects relating to the Tūpuna Maunga.
Tūpuna Maunga Residency Programme
The Tūpuna Maunga Authority is pleased to announce the Tūpuna Maunga Residency, delivered in partnership with the Michael King Writers' Centre.
Writers, creatives, and researchers working on projects relating to the Tūpuna Maunga are invited to apply. There are two residencies available.
The residency includes
Two-week stay at the historic Signalman's Cottage on Takarunga / Mount Victoria in Devonport, Auckland
A stipend (paid at living wage) for the duration of the stay
Residency dates are flexible, occurring between October 2026 and May 2027
This residency provides an opportunity to connect directly with the Tūpuna Maunga while undertaking your project. Projects can be new or ongoing, from a wide range of fields including creative arts, literature, social sciences, and applied sciences.
Eligibility
New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
Project must relate to the Tūpuna Maunga
Mana Whenua writers, Tūpuna Maunga Authority Research Scholarship applicants, and Tūpuna Maunga project specialists are encouraged to apply. Applications can be submitted in Te Reo Māori and/or English.
Applications close 11:59 pm, 30 August 2026. Applicants will be notified by October 2026.
