Whanganui District Council / Creative New Zealand
Community arts grant funding local projects in Whanganui, open August–September 2026 for projects running October 2026 to October 2027.
The Creative Communities Scheme is a partnership between Whanganui District Council and Creative New Zealand that funds local arts projects in the Whanganui district. It supports a wide range of community-centred creative activities — from music videos and life drawing sessions to marae-based exhibitions and lantern-making workshops.
This round is open for applications from Monday 3 August to 12pm Friday 4 September 2026, for projects taking place between 5 October 2026 and 5 October 2027.
Recent grants have ranged from around $964 to $3,964, supporting projects across music, performance, visual arts, digital media, and community engagement.
Before applying, it's strongly recommended that you talk with the community activator, who can help you shape your project proposal and advise on supporting material. Application guides are available in multiple languages including Te Reo Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Hindi, Korean, and more.
Applications must be submitted using the official form, available to download from the council website. You can submit by email, post, or online. For guidance or questions, contact Community Activator Anique Jayasinghe at the email below.
