The Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) supports grassroots arts and cultural projects and events in the Whangarei District. Administered locally by Whangarei District Council, this fund is perfect for community groups wanting to share their unique arts and culture, or to get more people involved in local creative activities.
The fund welcomes applications for a wide range of projects, including cultural events, arts and crafts workshops, exhibitions showcasing young local artists, pop-up exhibitions, Fringe Festival shows, and community art projects.
To be eligible, your project must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Most grants are under $5,000. Applications are assessed by an independent panel of local community artists and practitioners from across all artforms and backgrounds. Outcomes are communicated approximately six weeks after each funding round closes.
2026–2027 Funding Rounds:
Applications are submitted online via SmartyGrants. You'll need to provide supporting documents including a financial performance report (for groups), proof of bank account, quotes for all expenses, and letters of support.
