Open call for artists worldwide to exhibit work exploring what art is and why we create it, at CICA Museum in South Korea.
CICA Museum invites artists from around the world to submit work for 'Art Is #3', the third edition of their ongoing international exhibition series. The exhibition asks a deceptively simple question: what is art, and why do we make it?
Works that explore what art means — personally, culturally, philosophically — are welcome across three categories:
Photographs & 2D Digital Art — Selected works will be printed on A3 foam poster board and installed by CICA's curatorial team. If you prefer a different size or printing method, you can print and frame works yourself and ship them to the museum.
Video & Interactive Art — Projectors and DVD/DIVX players will be provided. Multiple single-channel works may be screened through a shared projector. If your work requires exclusive projector use or more than two screens, note this in your submission email (additional fees may apply).
Painting, Sculpture & Installation Art — Artists are responsible for shipping physical works to and from CICA Museum. Recommended maximum size is 1m on the longest side for 2D works, and 1 x 1 x 2 metres for installations. Wall-mounted works should not exceed 10kg.
How to apply:
Email up to 3 video links and/or up to 5 JPG images, along with your bio, to submission@cicamuseum.com. Use the subject line: *Submission: Art Is #3 – [Category] – [Artist's Name]*.
If selected, a participation fee of $78 USD (or 110,000 KRW) per piece applies to cover exhibition processing and maintenance costs.
Exhibition dates: 24 February – 14 March 2027 (subject to change).
