A virtual museum collecting objects and stories from people with migration experience — submit photos and a short text about an everyday object you brought from
Museum of Homeland is a virtual museum and growing online archive that collects everyday objects people brought with them when moving to another country. What begins as an ordinary item — a cup, a photograph, a piece of fabric — becomes a carrier of memory, personal history, and connection to a place called home.
The project is open to anyone with migration experience, regardless of country of origin, destination, language, age, or artistic background. You do not need to be an artist or writer to participate. Sincerity and personal meaning matter far more than professional craft.
Each submission includes
Your text might explore questions like: What is this object? Why did you bring it with you? What memory or connection does it hold? How has its meaning shifted since you moved?
Submissions are welcome in any language — translation will be provided if needed.
Selected submissions become part of the online collection. Museum of Homeland sits at the intersection of archive, storytelling, literature, and participatory art practice. Rather than seeking valuable artefacts, the project is interested in the emotional life of ordinary things — the way objects preserve traces of people, places, relationships, and movement across borders.
This is an ongoing open call with no fixed deadline. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, and you can expect a response within one to two weeks. At this time, participation is unpaid — Museum of Homeland is an independent, non-commercial project.
Submitted photographs and texts may be published on the Museum of Homeland website, affiliated online platforms, and social media, and used in presentations related to the exhibition. Materials are not shared with third parties or used for commercial purposes.
