The Académie d'Architecture invites professionals and researchers from anywhere in the world to apply for a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris — the largest artist residency in the world — for stays of between 3 and 12 months during 2027.
This programme is open to practitioners and researchers working in architecture, urbanism, heritage, visual arts, and history connected to those fields. A good working knowledge of French or English is required.
The Académie holds five studio-apartments at the Cité internationale des arts' Marais site (18 rue de l'Hôtel de Ville, Paris 4e). Studios range from 20 to 40 m², with monthly fees between €541 and €565 (excluding supplements), payable directly to the Cité. A one-month deposit is required in advance. Couples with a child under 11 are welcome; supplements apply for additional occupants.
What residents receive:
- A live/work studio in the heart of Paris
- Access to a vibrant international artistic community of 300+ residents
- Weekly open studios, exhibitions, conferences and cultural programming
- A "carte Cité" giving free or reduced-price entry to many Parisian cultural venues
- Wi-Fi throughout the site
- Networking and mentoring opportunities through the Académie d'Architecture, including possible invitations to give lectures or contribute to exhibitions
- Access to the Académie's exceptional archives (classified as Archives nationales de France)
- An optional senior Académie member as a personal référent
Selection criteria include:
