Permanent senior role at Creative NZ leading theatre sector development, investment insights, and national/international arts initiatives from Wellington or Auc
Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa is seeking a Lead Practice Adviser with deep experience in theatre to join its Arts Investment Pou — the team responsible for national and international investment and capability development across the arts sector.
This is a permanent, senior role that sits at the heart of how Creative NZ shapes its support for artists and organisations. You'll work alongside fellow Lead Practice Advisers, advisory groups, and a wide range of sector stakeholders to ensure that investment decisions are grounded in real sector knowledge, equity, and strategic impact.
Your work will span identifying emerging opportunities and challenges in the theatre sector, providing senior strategic advice to inform investment priorities, analysing sector trends and performance data, and delivering initiatives that build capability and sustainability. You'll also manage strategic partnerships, evaluate investment outcomes, and contribute to international arts development pathways.
The ideal candidate will bring significant in-sector experience in theatre, established relationships with artists and arts organisations, and strong analytical and project leadership skills. Knowledge of te ao Māori and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi are important, as is the ability to work across diverse communities and cultural contexts.
The role is flexible — you can be based in Wellington or Auckland. To apply, you must be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold a valid work visa. Applications are reviewed as they come in, so early applications are encouraged.
