Grants of $500–$5,000 to support artists presenting work at Dunedin Fringe Festival 2027, with dedicated funds for Māori and Pasifika artists.
The Dunedin Fringe Festival is an open-access, 11-day multidisciplinary arts festival running 4–14 March 2027. If you want to present work at the festival, you can apply for a Dunedin Fringe Grant to help make it happen.
Grants can be used for anything you need to put on your show — paying yourself and collaborators, materials, venue hire, technical equipment, marketing, travel, or improving accessibility for your audiences. The total grant pool across all categories is $38,000, and grants typically range from $500 to $5,000, though you're welcome to apply for whatever amount your project genuinely needs.
There are three grant categories
Moana Fringe Grant — for artists and groups/companies that include people who descend from Te Moananui a Kiwa (Pacific) nations.
Māori Fringe Grant — for artists and groups/companies that include people who whakapapa Māori.
General Fringe Grant — open to anyone presenting work at Dunedin Fringe 2027.
The panel will prioritise applications that add to a broad and diverse festival programme, particularly work from under-represented artforms (such as dance) or from historically excluded or marginalised communities. Projects that enable disabled, neurodiverse, or D/deaf people to participate — as practitioners or audiences — are also strongly encouraged.
