New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA)
International juried photography open call exploring decay, corrosion and rust, with $4,000 in cash prizes and an online gallery exhibition.
The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) invites photographers worldwide to submit work for Decay, Corrosion, Rust — a juried open call celebrating the visual richness of things worn, weathered, and forgotten.
Time, neglect, and exposure to the elements can transform everyday objects into something extraordinary. Rusted cars, peeling paint, crumbling walls, abandoned factories, dilapidated houses, junkyard treasures — this call is an invitation to look closely at what's usually overlooked. All photographic media are welcome: black and white, colour, abstract, experimental, print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, and more. Only 2D work is eligible.
Awards
A total of $4,000 in cash prizes will be awarded across 10 winners:
Additionally, 20 Juror Selections and 20 Honorable Mentions will be recognised. All prizewinners receive inclusion in the online gallery, the winners catalogue, and an award certificate.
Juror
Darren Ching, Co-Owner of The Klompching Gallery, New York. With over 25 years of expertise in photography, Darren has judged competitions, curated exhibitions, and contributed to publications and panels. He is also Co-Founder of the Fresh Annual Photo Awards and the Rhonda Wilson Award, and has served as adjunct faculty at SVA, External Examiner for MICA's BFA Photography programme, and Guest Critic at RISD and Parsons School of Design.
How to Enter
Entry fee: $40 for the first three images, then $10 per additional image (no limit on submissions). Submit via the NYC4PA entry portal. Images should be JPG files. No signatures, watermarks, or artist names embedded in images — NYC4PA uses a blind jury process.
Eligibility
Open to amateur and professional photographers worldwide. Images that received an NYC4PA prize within the past two years are not eligible. Previously submitted but unselected images may be resubmitted.
Prize announcements will be sent to all entrants two to three weeks after the deadline.
