International open call for experimental films and moving-image works exploring silence as shaped by power, displacement, and survival — screened in Paris, Sept
Projet Betula invites filmmakers and moving-image artists worldwide to submit work for *Deafening Silence*, the second chapter of an ongoing conceptual screening series. Where the first chapter, *Speak Volumes*, traced active voices within haunted landscapes and archives, this edition turns its attention to what remains unsaid — silence as a condition shaped by power, catastrophe, and survival.
Submissions should engage with one or more of three conceptual pillars:
Selected works will be presented as a curated single-channel cinema programme at Césure (the former Censier campus of Sorbonne Nouvelle University) in Paris on 16 September 2026, alongside promotional profiling across Projet Betula's international partner and digital networks.
Who can apply?
Artists, filmmakers, and collectives from anywhere in the world are eligible. Previously screened works are welcome — no premiere status required. Collectives may apply with one designated member completing the form and noting the collaborative nature of the work.
Submission requirements:
There is no entry fee. Note that Projet Betula is unable to pay screening fees or artist honorariums.
