The Ōrākei Local Board Community Arts Broker Grants is a responsive, accessible fund supporting creative arts activities across the Ōrākei region — covering suburbs including Glendowie, St Heliers, Kohimarama, Mission Bay, Meadowbank, Stonefields, Ellerslie, and Remuera.
Grants generally range from $500 to $2,500 (and sometimes more for exceptional projects) and are designed to invigorate local arts opportunities for anyone engaging with the arts — whether you're a professional artist or a complete beginner. Supported activities include community art events, artist workshops, theatrical and musical productions, festivals, public artworks, kapa haka, rangatahi programmes, and regular creative meet-ups.
Projects must benefit people living and working in Ōrākei and take place between October 2026 and July 2027. Collaborators or specialists from outside the area can be involved, as long as the benefit flows back to the local community.
To apply, you'll need to describe your idea, who's involved, your timeline, the community outcomes you're aiming for, and a budget. The application is a simple one-page online form.
The fund is guided by Ōrākei Local Board priorities, which include connecting communities through the arts, supporting youth, showcasing Māori identity and culture, reaching diverse communities, and keeping older residents connected and engaged.
