Open Call 2026/27 — ss space space

ss space space is a Taipei-based research collective and artist-run gallery founded in 2021, dedicated to exploring contemporary art through the lens of 'space'. For their 3rd Anniversary Edition Open Call, they're inviting artists, curators, and researchers from anywhere in the world to propose a new solo or collective exhibition.

This isn't just an exhibition opportunity — it's a genuine collaboration. Selected applicants will take part in a six-month Artist Development Programme (October 2026 – April 2027), working closely with the ss space space team through studio visits, reading groups, workshops, spatial planning sessions, and curatorial discussions. The final exhibition runs 30 May – 27 June 2027.

What you'll receive:

• NTD 22,000 exhibition production grant (for materials, equipment hire, transport, and shipping)
• Six months of in-depth mentorship and collaborative development
• Free use of the gallery space and in-house equipment
• Comprehensive marketing and PR support, including bilingual (Traditional Chinese/English) press materials and social media promotion
• Editorial support for exhibition texts
• Guidance on grant applications and fundraising
• Support for one public event during the exhibition (workshop, performance, lecture, or reading group)
• Professional photography documentation and arts administration

Who can apply:

Anyone — artists, curators, researchers, or collectives — regardless of nationality, age, gender, ethnicity, or educational background. The proposed work must be entirely new (not previously exhibited), or represent a significant new development of an ongoing project. You must be available to commit to the full programme timeline.

Note: The programme does not cover international flights, visas, or accommodation in Taiwan. Overseas applicants are encouraged to seek travel funding independently; ss space space can provide official invitation letters to support those applications.

To apply:

1. Complete the online application form

2. Submit a single PDF (max 10 MB) containing your CV (2 pages max), Artist Statement (1 page max), Exhibition Proposal, and Portfolio (up to 5 works)

3. Pay the non-refundable application fee of EUR 15 via PayPal

Artwork sales during the exhibition are handled by ss space space, with a 50/50 commission split.

Deadline: 31 August 2026 at 23:59 (GMT+8). Results announced by late September 2026.
